| Robert Leaver - Wagga Wagga |

14th May 1932 – 17th December 2009 Hundreds who packed the church and an outside marquee in his home town of Yenda saw Bob farewelled at a Requiem Mass concelebrated by the Bishop of Wagga Wagga, Most Rev Gerard Hanna and thirty priests on 20 December 2009. Sadly he died just short of his 50th year of priesthood. A nine hour operation in Sydney after he was diagnosed with cancer revealed there was no hope for recovery, and Bob was flown back to Wagga Wagga and died in Calvary Hospital. At one stage he was administrator at St Michael’s Cathedral, but he enjoyed working in country parishes where he endeared himself to people of all faiths, especially the sick and elderly. He had an easy manner and extraordinary patience. His devotion to the Mass and dispensing of the Sacraments were a high priority in his priestly work His love of horses was well known. Not race horses (except where he broke a few in to become riding hacks) but shown horses. Bob was asked to judge horses and their riders at many country shows and many pony clubs have been grateful to him as a riding instructor. Bob was the loving brother of Marjorie, Phyllis, Gertrude (deceased), and Jim (deceased). May he rest in peace.
